New Generation Book Club

Good Morning Kuwait!

Basically, this is a kind of a new generation book club. Instead of printed books, however, I will post links to interesting stuff from the internet--interesting to me at least! The intension is to spur debate over a wide range of issues, from god to sex to economics to politics to...sex? Well, you get the point!

Oh, and there is no red line but one: a red line! People who find subjects here offensive ARE the target audience!

This will be (or rather could be) fun! Posts will lean towards video and audio material. These will include documentaries, interviews, speeches etc. Less emphasis will be given to written material.. guess why?:)

Discussions around the posts may be more useful if we try to relate them to Kuwait.

*Anyways, just to break the ice, let's start with God!

The Virus of Faith

Documentary by Richard Dawkins, University of Oxford

religion is an insult to human dignity. without it you'd have good people doing good things, and evil people doing evil things. but for good people to do evil things, it takes religion.

Looks like your blog will bring a much needed breath of fresh air to the Kuwaiti blogging community.
:) Welcome aboard.

Hmmm, the style is so familar to me yet not too distant to me for some reason. A friend recently showed me a book talking about the same issue. Cool post, keep them coming. :)

my favourite blogger!! so nice to c u here!!

Dawkins slightly miss quoted Weinberg though..

Steven Weinberg: Religion is an insult to human dignity. WITH OR WITHOUT IT, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion..

I have the impression that you are ready to start a good job based on serious documentation. And here I have to say that the new generation has begun to ask the good questions for nobody from the academic circles dares advancing in this dangerous path for their own benefits and cowardise. Inside all this lies a very big gap between theory and practise. But moral issues can't be undertstood without searching the truth in every item with scientific and logical methods. Good luck !
